Children’s Ministry

“Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.”    Matthew 18:5

Children have a special place in the heart of Jesus. In Scripture we read of Him laying His hands on them and blessing them.  He also instructed His disciples to “permit the children to come to Me” (Mark 10:14). Therefore, we place a great emphasis on demonstrating the love of God to the children at Horizon Christian Fellowship.

The purpose of the Children’s Ministry is to reflect the love of Jesus as the Word of God is taught.  We believe the roles of those serving in the Children’s Ministry are a crucial influence on a child’s life. Therefore, anyone interested in serving in a classroom must complete an application process and background check. They also must make a commitment to attend ministry meetings and training workshops, regularly attend church, and most importantly, they must maintain a lifestyle representative of a follower of Christ.

Children’s Ministry is offered during service each Sunday. We believe children should worship and learn the Bible at a level they can understand.  In each service, children will worship God in the main sanctuary with their parents. They are then sent to Children’s Church, where age-appropriate Bible studies show them how God’s Word applies to their lives.  As time permits, there are games, activities, and crafts that are designed to further reinforce the Bible message.  The children are encouraged to memorize Bible verses and opportunities are provided to put their faith into action.  Our weekly “take home papers” let parents know what their child has been studying and allows them to reinforce the Biblical lessons taught in the classroom.

Middle School and Sr. High Ministry

The middle and high school groups meet on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30pm.  On Sundays, the students join the adults in the sanctuary for the entire service.

This group is growing as they continue to come together to grow in their faith in Jesus and knowledge of the Word.

Annual middle and high school winter and summer camps are held and include youth groups from surrounding areas.  The camps feature Bible study, fellowship, and outdoor activities.  Many come to know Jesus, rededicate their lives to Jesus, and grow in Jesus! This exciting ministry continues to grow.

Monthly activities, such as outreach, evangelism, camp outs, and other ministry opportunities for the students are printed in the bulletin. Mission trips both stateside and out-of-country are also part of this group’s growth.

Young Adult/College Ministry

Young Adult Ministry promote living the abundant life as Christians, walking by faith, and trusting the Lord in every area of life. It encourages those in the 18 to 26 year-old range to grow and mature in their walk with the Lord and in the study of His Word, while actively serving and helping the body.

Women’s Ministry

Our vision is to provide opportunities for women to come together to grow in their faith, and to build one another up through Bible study, and fellowship. Our desire is that healthy and strong relationships will develop between the women of our Church. The Women’s ministry of Horizon Christian Fellowship encourages and teaches women with weekly Bible studies, yearly retreats and conferences, along with other special events throughout the year.

Men’s Ministry

It is our desire to see husbands love their wives, fathers train up their children in the way they should go, and all men to “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

A weekly men’s prayer time is held on the last Friday of each month from 6:30am to 8:00am. Location announced in the Bulletin

There is also a weekly men’s Bible study every Tuesday from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.

Each year, a men’s retreat takes place and provides a great opportunity for fellowship and learning more of the Word of God.  These retreats are well attended and provide a time of drawing closer to the Lord and ministering to others.

Home Fellowships

A great way to get plugged in and grow in your relationship with God and others in the church is by attending one of our home fellowships.

As believers in a God who loves people and wants to see them saved, we seek to engage with others within the home, the church, the city, and the world.  It all starts in the home as we seek to train up our children, love our spouses, and reach our neighbors.  From there, we reach out to our fellow believers by serving within the church and then to the rest of the world around us with the love of Jesus Christ.

Nursing Home Ministry

The Nursing Home Ministry hopes to share the love of Christ through visits, prayer, songs and Bible studies with those who are shut-in or living in nursing homes away from family and friends.
